Review: Perfect fit! Specialty tools make replacement easy. - This OEM part was the perfect fit for my 2002 Yukon Denali (non-XL). This cable is no longer universal fit which is why there is no longer an adjustable fitting. Instead, they are now sold at specific lengths to match the vehicle wheelbase. By the way, this was a very quick installation with the proper tools. I used a Schley Products SLY-10500 tool to disconnect the good cable (from the parking brake pedal) from the old intermediate cable, which in my case broke at the rear. I used a Lisle 44220 tool to reconnect the cables. I attempted the installation without these and was unsuccessful and very frustrated. Using these specialty tools made the difference for me. Less than 5 minutes! These were available on desertcart as well.

**Q: Why do brakes need to be replaced in the first place?**
A: Friction material on the brake pad contacts the rotors to slow the vehicle. In time, that material wears away and the pads must be replaced. Sometimes the rotors and calipers must also be replaced.

**Q: What’s the squealing sound I hear when braking?**
A: Over time, wear indicators in brake pads may contact the rotors’ surface when braking, resulting in a metallic squealing sound. Vehicles equipped with wear sensors may also provide an alert that minimum brake pad thickness has been reached.

**Q: What if it’s more of a grinding sound?**
A: If all the friction material has been worn away, the metal backing plate of the brake pad will be the material in contact with the rotor during braking. It causes a grinding sound and braking performance is often diminished.

**Q: Why do the brakes seem to pulsate when stopping?**
A: It may be due to worn brake pads, unevenly worn rotors or unevenly worn tires. Have the pulsation diagnosed as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of greater brake system wear or damage.

**Q: What about vibrations or shaking in the steering wheel?**
A: This is more serious than pulsation. If the brakes are very worn or the rotors are unevenly worn, there can be a significant vibration or shaking in the steering wheel when braking. It may mean brake service is needed immediately.
