The polymer is applied to a leaking dam or pond by scattering the powder across the surface of the water. DamIt is designed with a positive charge which draws it downward through the water toward the bottom of the dam or pond. The water pressure (hydrostatic pressure), which causes the dam or pond to leak, forces DamIt down into cracks and crevices as it sinks to the bottom of the pond or dam. Once activated with water, DamIt will expand in size and bind to other particles to form larger clumps, which effectively slows and stops the leak. DamIt will continue to expand over a number of hours and forms a flexible plug that withstands water pressure. DamIt is insoluble and will form a long term plug in cracks and porous soils. DamIt stays active when wet and can withstand continuous wet/dry cycles to accommodate rising and falling water levels due to seasonal water level variations in the dam or pond. After second application leak was about 3/4 to 1 inch per day. Inspected the dam and located two small leaks and following week applied product in the dam area and at the very center of the pond where we possibly missed some spots in previous applications. So now after three applications, no more leaks in the dam and the pond is holding water very well. Our pond is 3/4 of an acre. If you have smaller area I think might be easier to apply and then might work for you. **Q: How much product is needed to seal a pond 60" by 100"?** A: My pond was leaking at the dam, I used one 15L box, applied just in the dam area, seemed to slow the leaking considerably **Q: I have a 1/4 acre pond area that averages 6 foot deep. Should 1-15L bucket work? Any issue with over applying?** A: 1/4 acre is approximately 1011m². 1 x 15L bucket contains enough sealer to treat an area of 150m². You'll need aproximately 7 buckets for a full treatment of 1/4 acre. If you know where the leak is coming from, you can apply to the area and 1 bucket may be enough in this case. **Q: How much sealant should I get for an approximate 9,000 square ft pond? I used 5 15 liter buckets on my 1/4 acre pond which is approx 11,000 sf. Our pond holds an estimated 30k gallons of storm water. Yet it would seem out at the quick rate of about 3" per day. In no time it seems it would be near empty. We applied this stuff in by hand just shaking it out of a quart container and the results have been incredible. Our leak has slowed to about 2 inches per week which is acceptable. But since we only used about half of the Damit in the can I plan to reapply soon to see if we can improve things even more. Well worth the $325 price tag! Update: I reapplied the 2nd half of the Damit container and now my leak has slowed to about an inch per week.
