The drainage is fine, some rice gets through and thats alright. The design is silver and round and functions like a bowl. Probably best to rinse off dirty fruits. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No wires to stab you in the fingertips. *by S***I on March 3, 2024* I have a set of 3 colanders. They are made out of wire mesh. Every time I use them, one of them will stab me in a fingertip. After a couple of years of getting stabbed, I found this Gulex Colander 304 Stainless Steel 4-quart with Mixing Bowl, and it was a great purchase. First off, No Wire Mesh. This colander is smooth stainless steel with holes drilled into the colander sides and a matching mixing bowl that fits perfectly below it to catch any excess liquid instead of it dripping on the floor. Next, did I mention it was stainless steel? Completely dishwasher safe and no steel mesh to catch little bits of food so it has to be hand scrubbed before placed in the dishwasher. Just rinse, place it the dishwasher and go on with cleanup. Heavy duty, it will not flex when full of hot food. It looks small at first glance. In fact, because it comes in a 3-quart and 4-quart size, I thought I had the ordered the 3-quart when I first saw it. It looks small because it is not wide, but tall. It actually fits in my cabinet with no struggle.
