NOT pre- sharpened. Excellent quality. Much better value for the price compared to other made in USA cedar pencils on Amazon right now. We own both types and both are excellent pencils only the other brand is $8+ for 12 pre-sharpened pencils where these are $8+ for 36. If you have a sharpener and can sharpen these yourself it's a much better value. These stay sharp and do not break. They write smooth not gritty. Erase easily. best school pencil as kids do not spend all day sharpening and re- sharpening. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Going for the orange next! *by G***4 on March 25, 2016* Delivery went exactly as scheduled. Tracking was great with text updates. As far as the pencils themselves, great weight, excellent paint job, cedar smells good, lead is dead center of the pencil all the way through. Erasers good be a bit better, but the pencil and eraser are wearing down at an even rate, so that's all that really matters. It's very frustrating when you have more than half a pencil to go, and the eraser is worn down already, or even breaks off. I'd prefer a touch darker line from the graphite, but the points roll smooth and stay sharp, making small lettering and detailed drawing easy. Very much a technical pencil in a wooden case. They not only look distinctive (so you know if someone's walked off with your pencils) but they are also wonderfully made. The graphite is the right softness for everyday writing.
