The fader stem is thick and strong and is 8mm wide. The fader cap is sloped/triangular. The fader is also very easy to take apart to clean as you just pull the cover off. The ‘essential’ extra long life conductive plastic tracks, (XCP) can be maintained with a specially formulated Pro X Fade ‘Ether’ lubricant which has been developed for the new tracks. Older versions of the PXF have a green PCB board and this new ‘essential’ has a black PCB board. As it's a serato mixer it's fully mapped to that.. tbh if your using traktor the z2 isn't much different and I'd say has better faders. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DJM-S9 bargain alternative with customisable analog/digital features that make endless possibilities *by A***R on 29 November 2018* I found this mixer while looking for cheaper options to the Pioneer or Rane Serato mixers. I wanted a mixer with Serato DVS built-in and also midi control / pads to allow for more control over my vinyl setup from just one device. I presumed that the Pioneer DJM-S9 was the only option for scratching and juggling with Serato DJ but it was too expensive for me. When I came across this mixer I first thought it was be too good to be true and you get what you pay for etc etc. I am so glad I was proven wrong! The price is great compared to the other options that are either cheaper such as the AMX which requires Serato to run just a phono signal or the next step is something over £1000. I was worried about the new ProXFade Galileo fader which replaced the Innofader in the none MK2 version. Having only had mixers with Innofaders in I was worried how different it would feel although I didn't find the Innofader to be as special as it is supposed to be. I found the newer Innofader felt worse than the older one which I think had a better feeling bigger cap and stem. The Galileo is supposedly analog compared with the none analog contactless innofader which sounded like a step backwards and I debated whether to get the older version with the Innofader as I thought I'd stick with what I know but I managed to get the MK2 version cheaper than a bstock old one so I couldn't help but grab a bargain. Glad I did as the fader feels great and more customisable with two curve controls. One for the cut distance and the other for how the volume of each channel comes in after the cut. The fader has a nice loud click that I haven't heard from the mixers I have used before. The only fader related gripe is the lack of post fader FX on the crossfader. The upfaders (which also have a curve control and feel nice and smooth) have to be used for FX. For example echo out would require the fader open to keep the channel with the FX on while you drop the volume upfader until the FX is complete then cut the fader. It's is a bit strange to adjust to but I don't really use FX enough to keep it from affecting anything I have been trying and I can learn to use the upfaders more when required. The other thing is the midi control. Every knob and pad is remappable and the Mixars website has mappings to get you started. I am still figuring out what to map for my needs but if you have any other midi controller you can add it to the USB ports and then map extra buttons until you get used to the layout of the Mixars DUO. The only thing I have yet to try probably is the built-in sampler. I didn't know that it had an analog sample bank that looks like a basic MPC live looping type of setup and I was surprised to find it looks like it works with DVS / Serato audio too so you can sample digital files and then mix without Serato. Anyway I hope this helps anyone who is debating whether they can afford to get a Serato mixer as this is basically the Serato version of the Z2 although I think it has more analog features although I haven't used the Z2 long enough to say. I think I will have a lot of fun with this and I keep finding features that enhance my setup and abilities to make my turntablism setup do so much more than I imagined. Edit: Forgot to mention it came with a EU 2 Pin power cable and no converter. I had a replacement UK plug cable but it might be an issue for others as it wasn't mentioned and may stop you from getting running out the box. No big deal personally and it may have been why it was a cheaper than the currently listed price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Superdoopertommycooper *by J***N on 4 February 2021* A great mixer, not too complicated, the layout is near perfect and it works straight out of the box. The crossfader is light, sometimes too light, but that's a personal thing. It's quiet and has a great noise floor. The unit is solidly built and can take some hammer.My only gripes are that you have a toggle switch to move between cue points and samples, it would have been nice to have the option of both cues and samples per channel without having to midi map them. Also the crossfader has no Post Fade feature on FX, so if you are using vinyl or digital turntables and want to hit the stop button for an echo stab effect, it has to be on that channels up fader which can make cueing a two handed job, one to hold the next track whilst the platter is spinning, and the other to stop the other deck, put the crossfader midpoint and then adjust the up fader for FX. Maybe a firmware update can sort this unless it's a hardware issue.
