It provides soothing heat & revitalizing cold therapy. I have only tried the hot function in microwave yet. As per instructions I microwaved it for 30 seconds but it was merely warm after 30 seconds so I put it back in microwave for another 30 seconds. It came out nice and warm (not hot) that I wrapped around my back. It provided soothing comfort for about 5 minutes but then I started feeling that it is not warm anymore but when I touched with hand it was still warm but was not feeling warm to my body probably because my body got immured to its warmth and also because it was never too hot. I have electric wraps that can be very hot but I like this wrap as I can move around anywhere in the house while wearing it.
