## Description

Eliminate the need for a branch vent with the Oatey Sure-Vent Air Admittance Valve. This air admittance valve (AAV) provides the ideal venting solution for island sinks, remote bathroom groups, and remodel jobs by eliminating the need to be connected directly into the stack vent. This AAV keeps the sewer and atmospheric pressures equalized, allowing water to drain freely. Its one-way valve is designed to allow air to enter the plumbing drainage system when negative pressures develop without the use of a vent extended to open air and to prevent sewer gases from escaping into the building. The Oatey Sure-Vent AAV is sensitive to pressure changes to consistently open and close as needed by the plumbing system, closing by gravity and sealing the vent terminal at zero differential pressure (no flow conditions) and under positive internal pressures. This 1.5" x 2" PVC air admittance valve is approved to handle up to 3" vent pipe and has a 20 DFU (Drainage Fixture Unit) capacity. Review: Works well, but know what you’re doing - There is one review here from Derek giving this one star and I have to say this is because Derek installed it too high. When it is too high the vacuum is too weak to engage the aav diaphragm so flushing is bad. The idea is minimum of 200mm above the water flood level, which in this case is the toilet rim. If he had just installed it between 200-300mm above the rim it would work with no issue. This is a good product but you need to know how to do it properly.

**Q: So is this a 1 1/2in. male thread without using any adapters? and will it work on abs pipe?**
A: The top part of the vent (you can see the 2" male threads).  The bottom part of the vent is an adapter that allows solvent welding to 1.5" or 2" PVC (not ABS).  So, for 1.5" ABS pipe with male threads, you need to use a 1.5 Female to 2.0 female adapter/coupler or, if no threads on the ABS, solvent weld on a 1.5" ABS to 2" female pipe thread adapter.

**Q: Can I cut the vents coming through the roof and cap them in the attic with this?**
A: Per code, you need one 3" vent out the roof. The others can be air admittance valves as long as there is access to replace them and they can get air to work properly.

**Q: What is the difference between the 39016 and the 39017?**
A: Just a different model number. They're both the same size for the same size pipe.

**Q: i have 2 fixtures to the same drain, kitchen sink and sump pump, where should this Valve be placed? Both go to septic, Sink won't drain with pump on**
A: First off I would highly recommend to not put  sump pump discharge through your house waste system. It should always be run to the outside. One reason is that your system is not designed for the volume and another is that you are pushing sediment through it. It should be run to the outside away from the foundation or into a drywall system with your  gutters if so eqiupt. If you do it the right way you don't need this valve. Also, what happened to your original vent?  Lots of questions here....you should only need this for an island sink or difficult remodel situations. That said you can install this on a t above your trap arm or weir or somewhere above that

Unfortunately this item didn't work either I set it up wrong but toilet doesn't flush correctly. But when I remove it. Itdoes I will probably have to put pipe externally.
