I’ve been able to transport salad dressing without leaks, but am still cautious to keep it upright so can’t speak to how roughly you can handle it. I ordered these to replace a very worn set of bowls. Primarily the 4.8 size was the show stopper. I make microwave fudge and the sugary boiling hot mass has to be frequently mixed during the cooking process. This bowl is large enuf to contain the lava-like bubbling syrup. The sides are cool enuf to grasp the top edge when removing from the Microwave for the beating. I did find the sides were much more flexible than my former bowl. Makes moving a bit more tenuous. Overall, the quality is a acceptable replacement, we'll see if it lasts 20+ years. Being dishwasher safe is a show stopper, so it required shopping around a bit. It's nice to have tight lids, in case I use the bowls for storage.
