From classic settings of country roads and sun-crisped scarecrows, to futuristic horrors of human experimentation, these stories will have you clinging to the edge of your seat, holding your breath, and turning pages!If you enjoy the macabre and unearthly, this is definitely one you should have in your collection. The stories are not too long, not too short. You can read a few before you go to bed, (good luck sleeping!) or you can curl up for a few hours and read several at a time. Granted you get some what is this mess every once in a while then you get the gems and it makes the journey with it. Out of 20 stories one was terrible. It had no premise,direction,it rambled off topic on weird tangents that by page 8 of the story I threw in the towel. The other 19 rated a 7 or better out of 10. This was an enjoyable collection that was well written ,original pieces even if it was a zombie story etc,the pov was unique it also introduced me to new authors. I recommend this to every horror fans library you will not be disappointed. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but flawed *by K***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2015* I found "Nightmares Unhinged" to be a fun read, albeit a flawed one. In order to best break down my thoughts for easy reading for potential buyers, I will keep this to a pros and cons list.Pros:- Every story is very well written and easy to jump into.- The stories "Zou Gou", "Needles", "Diamond Widow", "The Camera", "The Librarian" and "Taking the Dare" are all creepy and alone worth the price.- The presentation is very well executed. Everything from the illustrations to the type formatting is perfectly placed for a fluid reading experience. This also helps to tie all the stories together (even though they aren't related to each other).- That cover art is awesome.- Reminds me of an adult version of "Scary Stories to tell in the Dark" by Alvin Schwartz.Cons:- A lot of the stories are very predictable.- Too many have the shocking twist in the last paragraph.- I know they are short stories, but I felt that a few stories were to short to be impactful or terrifying.Also, as a suggestion, for the second edition I would remove the blood splat on the cover that explains there will be "Ghosts, monsters, vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies & more.".
