I bought another brand similar to these and the front red L smudged off.** A: these are fine in all weather my daughter and son have them on their bikes over winter for a few years and still look in good condition. **Q: are these made out of plastic** A: The L Plates are made from High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) a type of very strong plastic, and are capable of being bent double without fear of breaking. I had a 6mm locking nut in a set I have in my garage, but I shouldn't have to resort to going to further expense because of the failings of a numpty on a production line who can't count, 1 of them, and 2 of those instead of 2 of them, and 1 of those. Also a peice if rubber or tape to go behind the clip will help to prevent scratching the front fork when installing.
