They pop together easily and hold together well. They are good enough quality plastic that you can reuse them dozens of times. The clear plastic really ensures that the focus is the macarons, not the thing they're sitting on. It's an excellent showpiece at a party or on a desert table. I usually wind up piping my macarons a little oversized, but when I'm using one of these trees I am mindful to keep my macs piped to the more traditional 1.5"-1.75" size, as my usual 2" monsters are too tall for the shelves of this tree. Since mine range from 1.5"-2", there were a fair number that I couldn't put in the tower.
