I always have high expectations for their pedals because of their reputation and cost but I didn’t expect as much as this pedal delivers for the modest price (at least by Earthquaker standards).It’s definitely a light to medium gain overdrive. Great for low wattage combos but also gives solid state amps of any size a great tube-like, organic warmth.You can use this as a clean boost, dirt pedal, or as your main distortion. It reminds me of the kind of distortion I can get from a Boss DS-1 but with more clarity. The active EQ is the killer feature here. It lets you tailor the sound to be warm and girthy, fizzy, or anywhere between. It’s like a better tube screamer when it comes to the EQ and amount/type of distortion it puts out.I first paired this up with a standard Strat (3 single coils) and a Fender Champion 100 (solid state) amp. It made the amp’s usually sterile sounding first channel sound warm and just great.Highly recommend. 10/10.
