I did not want to use an automatic switch for this purpose because I believe you need to turn off unused sources if you use automatic switching. I did not want to turn off the Dishnet DVR because it is set to record programs. Just place this switch where it is easy to access the button and press it as needed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does what it’s supposed to 90-95% of the time *by T***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2019* It’s a pretty good bargain for what I paid ($6.95 at the time of purchase). It is plugged in and in use about 4-10 hours a day, depending on what I’m doing. I use it to connect my PS4 and my PC the same monitor and use the button/switch to toggle between devices. It does cause the monitor to black out occasionally when I’m gaming (which it didn’t do before I installed the switch) but it usually just lasts long enough for me to get killed once in COD, lol. However, it is a 10 year old HP monitor and for less than $7 I would buy it again for sure. Basically, I removed the main switch and replaced it with a NPN transistor that can be toggled by the PI. In its default state, an external HDMI signal is displayed. With the GPIO port enabled, the PI's HDMI signal gets displayed. For $10 in parts total, this was a pretty simple way of allowing the PI to programatically interrupt an existing HDMI signal.The construction of this HDMI switcher is solid, and the HDMI output looks very good in my usage.
