It doesn't have much scent, but it smells a little of oranges if anything. I actually prefer a pure product without added scent and so this works great for me. **Q: Is this edible.** A: Yes it is. It is food grade, and I purchased it specifically because it was food grade and edible. **Q: Does this take the smell out of washing machines?** A: I used it in both the dishwasher and clotheswasher. Worked really well in the dishwasher, it was really smelling musty before and now smells like it is new, but I have a filter that I cleaned first.
