The red did fade to orange ( perhaps a heat issue? ) so I just painted them white to match my car. I’m still convinced they do absolutely nothing but look cool from the exterior, and catch eyes when kids or non-car people see under the hood at meets or shows. Would I buy again? Sure. They look cool, don’t do much. Easy enough install, and way cheaper than the ($170) ECS alternative, plus no branding. There is no need to remove the entire grille, just untab the top, and pull it out as needed. You also do not need to use the provided stencil. If your grille has the dual vents like my mk7.5 ( see pictures ) just use a dremel and trim along the inside outline of those vents and it’ll be a perfect fit. They look great when the hood is open. Can you see them outside the car? Maybe. If the angle is right or you are far enough away from the grille and are really looking for them. The red on these does NOT match the red of the GTI PP emblem, just an FYI if that matters to you. Only the red version adds horsepower, sorry if you bought black.
