Some others have said that they have tried filling in all the gaps but still have smoke everywhere. I have been burning chopped logs which have been well seasoned. No problem at all. Some smoke... but what do you expect? If you start a fire you are. going to have smoke. Kind of obvious really. With the wood i am burning there is very little smoke but, for the smoke it does give, the vast majority is going exactly where it should go. I have found the heat dispersion to be fine. The look is great. Instructions may not be the best but its really not rocket science. Some rust has start to show around exposed metal parts but to be honest that doesn't bother me and adds to the rustic feel. I think that for the money this was a fantastic buy. Great with friends over and few glasses of the good stuff. My advise to anyone using one of these is to try and use well seasoned dry wood or expect a lot of smoke. Excellent service so I would not mark them down for that. Things I like about the chiminea....it has a tall chimney with a spark arrester...the legs look great unlike a lot of chiminea's I have looked at...the iron casting is very good. One tip is put it together on the spot you want it....its very heavey. If you want a chiminea get this bad boy.....i just love it.
