For some reason I picture an old British mystery writer sipping Lapsang Souchong while her heroin navigates the seedy back alleys of Shanghai. This tea was the widely acclaimed favorite tea of Winston Churchill in his day. - This is a controversial tea. I find people love it or hate it with very little in between. Lapasang Souchong is distinctive because is dried in the presence of smoke from fresh cut pine. The tea is consequently infused with a distinctive smoke and pine aroma and flavor. If you have ever camped out and warmed yourself over a fire of pine branches you know the smell. - Our Lapsang Souchong is prepared traditionally in Tong Mu village in China. We use no chemicals or or flavor enhancers (unlike most Lapsang Souchongs in the market). The smoky flavor is strongly forward in the first 2-3 steepings. In later steeping in fades and a sweet fruity flavor similar to longan fruit is most forward. - If you are a lapsang souchong fan, I think you will love it.
