Product Description X12 UPS Series Products X1200 X1201 X1202 X1205 X1207 X1208

Review: A quality 18650-battery UPS for a specific case and base - no mixing and matching - This is part of a bigger purchase I made for my RasPi 5 which I thankfully bought before the recent price hikes due to memory chip being snaffled by the AI companies. desertcart requested a review so here's my original review (tweaked to focus a bit more on this item): I bought a Geekworm X1202 case with this matching X1202 UPS, H505 fan and X1001 NVMe adapter (for my 512GB SSD). You have to be careful when buying, as Geekworm offer various UPS solutions and they all have a specific case to fit into. No mix and matching allowed! The X1202-C1 case is all metal in two parts. It's all very professional and sturdy. You get more than enough screws and spacers for your Pi. There's also a cutout for a (max) 12mm momentary push switch to turn the Pi on/off, which I made use of. The X1202 UPS I bought allowed for four 18650 batteries (other options are available including the newer, fatter 21700 batteries, of which you only need two, but are more expensive and harder to find). They fit well under the Raspberry Pi. Getting the UPS to connect to the Pi is easy enough - it's done by spring-loaded pogo pins and as long as you align it all up before screwing it all together it should stay connected forever. A quick word about quality 18650 batteries: there are dozens for sale here on desertcart, some with ridiculous claims of 5,000mAh which breaks the rules of physics as we know them. desertcart probably won't like to hear it, but even my AI warned me about buying batteries here because you just don't know what you're getting from 3rd parties; it suggested buying quality OEM products from Samsung or another major manufacturer from well-known Pi stores. They are not cheap either: six pounds per battery is not unusual, but quality is not cheap. The H505 fan was probably not needed as I already had the "official" Pi fan, but Geekworm say theirs is better and easily matches or exceeds the performance of the original fan. Their published graph seems to confirm this. My Pi runs warm so I'm hoping it does the job! It does come with five heatsink patches to ensure each part of the Pi's motherboard is covered and cooled. Finally, X1001 NVMe adapter (if you have one) fits on top and is connected to the Pi via short, flat ribbon cable. Easy to slide up the connector socket cover a couple of mm on both the Pi and adapter and to insert the ribbon cable before closing the adapter again. If you don't have an SSD, you really need one - performance is incredible with it. Assembly was straightforward, but the best advice is to go slow. A dropped board could easily rip off some components under the Pi, so a bench or table with a soft blanket would be ideal. You don't need any special tools; a small Philips screwdriver (PH1) is all you need. I've included some photos of the before and after, just to show you the result - it took me just over the hour to complete and I did not rush. For newbies, allow two hours and look at the excellent photos and instructions on the Geekworm web pages. Recommend to a friend: YES Buy again: YES
Review: reliable, solid product - Have done extensive testing with my RPI5. I needed a system that would allow the RPI to function when connected to an unstable 12 source. I contacted them regarding what I thought was a product defect. They were very response inspite of not being able to help. However it turns out it was NOT their hardware at fault, but our UPS management software. So all good! Excellent hardware which you can configure to auto-shut down the RPI when AC power is removed (this was important for our project)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good UPS solution for PI5.
*by M***. on 6 November 2024*

Works well , documentation is a bit minimal , but the provided python examples are enough to build a machine which can safely shut down with power loss , and start when power returns. Battery state can be queried , so custom shutdown is easy if you are okay with programming. Would have been nice to have a hardware based shutdown as well ( i.e. a critical state to safely shutdown if the python script isn’t running )
