We use this as a replacement part for the original that comes on an outdoors large fiberglass box. We have to replace these every so often as with our usage there is undue stress put on the latch, and either it will wear out and break every 5 years. Pro: it works. Cons: the padlock hole is too small for a standard size combination lock, so we have to use cobalt bits to drill it out so it will fit.... the holes for the screws or bolts are slightly small so we drill those out to fit a proper sized rivet or machine screw for sturdiness. given our usage and everyone else I see use this hasp, It only makes sense to make the hole big enough for a standard size padlock. We install them on large fiberglass boxes that are mounted on boat trailers. At some point the original hasps fail due to road vibration bumps etc and the torquing of the box on the trailer.
