The only issue with them is that if your flat surfaces are frozen then the suction cups wont stay attached. I just have them placed in each of our freezers where I can see when easy. There is no option to hang the thermometer for our particular refrigerator so I cannot comment on that feature. In order to see the temperature display easily, it sits near the refrigerator's door opening. It would better to place the thermometer on the inside wall, away from all the movement, but it makes reading the display more difficult.
