At the end of 2000, the requirements for the frontal aviation forces were specified, so that in April 2001 the "PAK-FA program" was officially launched. On April 26, 2002, the state agencies transferred system leadership for the development of the new fighter aircraft to Suchoi, in which the OKBs Mikoyan-Gurevich and Yakovlev are also involved. After the end of the preliminary design phase in late 2004, the program was officially launched as T-50 with Alexander Dawidenko as chief constructor. In 2007, the Indian HAL contractually entered the development of the Suchoi T-50 as a 50:50 partnership. The Russian Air Force is expected to receive the Suchoi T-50 from 2013, with the start of series production scheduled for 2015.
