We do lots of stories and songs and having a visual helps the younger kids stay involved. This felt board is amazing!Other boards just rely on felt on felt to make the items stay in place. This one has Velcro on the back of the pieces to hold them securely. Which is best when you have 24 grabby hands around! These pieces are also thick! They stay firm and vibrant. There are pieces to act out many popular children's stories/songs like Old Macdonald, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Little Red Riding Hood. The pieces must be cut out individually from the larger felt pieces, but it doesn't take too long. The set does come with a pair of children's scissors, however, they do not work at all on this felt, so you will need a different pair. The board itself only has a few strips of velcro on the outside, so it's not as nice to use as a regular felt board with more space to hook pieces. Also, there is not enough room on the inside to store all of the pieces. There are 4 pockets, so 4 of the stories can have their own spot, but the other ones just fall right out if you try to keep them in there, so having a separate storage spot isn't the best.
