Review: A real tool - I have only used this for a few days but I am impressed! The length is perfect for a 6' individual and the fork doesn't give at all in heavy use. Not light but not heavy either. The tines are sturdy and won't bend like the flats on the box store forks but they enter compacted soil easily. I typically get one season out of the box store forks but I expect this fork to be used by future generations (if I could only get them to use it now it would be perfect). Update: I have used this fork for three months now, it is my constant companion and has seen continuous heavy use. It is sturdy, well made and effective. The length makes it easy to use and provides a lot of leverage without bending the tines. Definitely the best fork I have purchased! The far right tine lost temper and became spaghetti bending with every use. I straightened it about twenty times before it snapped. The remaining three tines are solid and it is still my go to tool. Everything else is still tight and solid. I have another fork (same model) but I continue to use this one. A disappointment but not a disaster. Review: High quaility garden fork - This is a great garden fork, perfect for small jobs around the yard. I'm 6'1" and I bought this fork to use on a large compost pile, about 4'x4'. Unfortunately, the fork is a little small for a compost pile that size. I'm finding that I'm having to really "get in there" and am ending up getting compost on my feet as I turn the pile. That being said, that's not the fault of the fork. I'm going to have to buy a longer compost fork at the local big box store for about $25. What I really love about this fork is the D handle, so you can lift loads well while keeping a straight back, something that's important for me with my bad back. It's the longest garden fork I could find that had a D handle, but if you find a longer one, please put that info in the comments. My only concern is that the D handle is held on by one small screw. The handle is plastic, but it's very heavy-duty; I can't imagine breaking it in any scenario. The fork is a bit heavier that one might expect, but that's due to it being high quality. A good quality fork, and I love the ergo design; it's very comfortable to use. If I ever have any problems with the handle, I'll be sure to update this review. Most spading forks are a foot or so shorter than this. This one is very heavy duty with thick metal tines that can definitely be used to dig in soil. This is not a hay pitchfork that's only for light duty materials such as straw and the like. This is strong enough for turning compost piles with twisting and lifting action deep in the pile and not having to worry about any part of it snapping.I like the length this one gives so you don't have to bend over. It's paid for itself very quickly in the time it's saved me. **Q: Is this pitch fork made in the US?** A: The details on the Amazon site clearly state that this fork is made in Poland. The fork is 11-12" length, the handle 35" **Q: Are the tines flat or square?** A: They are flat in front, go back square about 1/8", then are angled to a ridge in the back. So imagine a flat with a triangle on the back in shape. They are 5/8"+ wide, 5/16"+ thick, and 11-1/2" long, including the top bar. The tines are thicker by about a 1/16", longer by about an inch, and the overall width of the tines an inch wider (8") than my previous big box digging fork. But the main feature is the length, which at 47" is about 7 to 8" longer than the big box fork.
