I could have hooked the USB up to the computer sitting nearby but I chose to use the included power brick to plug it directly into an outlet.I've had it for a while now and it's quiet enough not to notice running and it's doing it's job by keeping the intended electronics it's aiming at nice and cool which will extend their life. Well worth the small investment. And at this price, I don't care if it were to conk out today. I'd just buy another one. It's that good of any investment for me for my purpose and already feel I've gotten great use out of it.Will it work to cool you down? Sure, I don't see why not. It's a fan after all. Has nice metal frame and swivels up and down to angle to your likeness.UPDATE - This fan is still going strong. It's on 24/7 and hasn't failed yet in over 1 year and 3 months!
