TROPICA - Red Cassia / Red Shower Tree (Cassia marginata) - 8 SeedsWorth knowing: This small, all year round beautiful and evergreen tree probably is the rarest species of the genus Cassia/Senna. The plant is also called red shower tree for its massive production of tiny red flowers, which cover the whole tree and look like a red shower curtain. It almost appears like the tree is losing it's balance and might fall over because of all its flowers. The flowering period is also long-lasting. Single shoots develop branches of 5-10 leaf pairs, slender and oval in shape. This is the only Cassia species developing red flowers. Origin: The red shower tree is indigenous to Siam. Today, it is found in many Tropical regions as well. Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. They must, however, be pretreated before sowing, Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature or hot water (e.g. an old Thermos flask) for about 24 hours. Spread the seeds out on moist cultivation soil and press them 1 cm deep into the soil afterwards.Place / Light: The red cassia, also known as red shower tree, loves very bright to sunny locations. Care: The plant develops quickly in well-drained soil, rich in nutrients. Water a lot during summer and provide the plant with tub plant fertilizer every 2 weeks from April until mid-September. Winter period: The plant will shed a few leaves only during the winter months. However, in order to avoid pests like spider mites, the pot should not be moved in a environment that is too warm, for the tree has to be sprayed often then. Bright locattions, with temperatures between 12°-16°C are ideal conditions for the winter period. Water evenly, however, not too often (every 6-8 days depending on the location).Bonsai Suitability: Yes
