Review: Great knife, especially for the money! - I just got this knife, and I love it. Yes, the handle is plastic - but it is very comfortable to grip and the knife maintains a good balance when opened. The blade (I chose black) is very sharp and sharp-looking, and I like the combo of the blue handle and the black blade. The opening mechanism is very smooth, though it takes a few reps to get it dialed in - true of any knife. It locks securely and easily. You need to make sure you don't close it on your fingers, true of any folding knife. Just like any knife, it gets tape residue on it if you use it to open boxes (desertcart should send you one when you join Prime - ha! - It's already opened a few boxes). As another reviewer mentioned, rubbing alcohol works well to remove, but you may have to soak it for a few minutes. I have owned a knife that was 10 times this much, and this is as good, if not better, as far as feel, size, looks, and function. The finger guard at the fold is reassuring that you won't accidentally slip the blade into your grip, much better than the pricey knife. It even came with a very sheik case and one of the most hefty cleaning cloths I've ever seen. All in all, a great knife and a great deal. Highly recommend.
Review: Outstanding bang for the buck. - I already own the Pyrite XL in Green Micarta, which is a favorite of mine mainly due to it's ergonomics. This standard sized Pyrite was too tempting to pass up. Unlike some people, I like FRN knives and this Pyrite is a well made example of an FRN knife. The FRN is kind of smooth, but not slippery feeling. The scales are light weight and yet are still stiff enough to have a great deal less flex than the XL Micarta version does. The use of non-weight relived liners helps add to the stiffness of the nested liners. The ergonomics are extremely good for the price point we are at and the steel is decent. The action is smooth and snappy, but opens relatively quietly. The pocket clip is recessed slightly and has recessed screws, which really helps the ergonomics out. I prefer the thumb stud on this design because it allows for effortless opening using the most commonly known way of opening pocket knives, which means anyone can use it with ease. The button lock operates smoothly and has zero stick, but locks the blade in place nicely. The sheepsfoot blade shape is incredibly useful and has great cutting geometry along with a generous choil for those of you who like to choke up on the blade. This knife is good enough even with the choil that I still give it 5 stars. Great value for the dollar spent and a phenomenal gift idea for knife newbies and people who appreciate good knives alike. Now for a rant about choils. I don't like choils on medium to large folding knives because it reduces the overall length of the cutting edge which makes me wonder why you wouldn't just carry a smaller knife if you want what is effectively a smaller blade. Choils are effectively traps where whatever you are cutting drops into the choil and suddenly you are trying to tear your way through whatever you were trying to cut. That is infuriating when you just want to get the cutting task done and don't want to have to watch how deep your blade is inserted to avoid getting the choil hung up on it. I sincerely wish this trend of adding choils to every blade under the sun would stop, because it is a feature that only appeals to people who love features for the sake of features rather than actual function considering the task at hand. Choils are good on very small knives with handles too small for a full grip on the knife and bushcraft knives that are intended to be used to chop things and be a more jack of all trades kind of knife. Choils are terrible on everything else.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great buy, but make sure your expectations are realistic
*by J***. on November 1, 2025*

It's fine. Especially for the price. Very sharp out the box. Cuts well. The only thing to consider is the blade and body are thinner than you'd expect so for my hands personally it's just a little too "flimsy" feeling. I'm positive for an EDC with reasonable use and expectations it's a fantastic option especially for its price, and I may just have a bias to heavier built knives though. Tbh if the handle was a little thicker and heavier and the blade was a smidge thicker I'd probably love it , HOWEVER I understand the point of this knife is to be light , thin, and for light work and for those things it seems excellent.
