This is my first time to work with black pipe. Everything DIY Cartel says about their product is true then some. When I first opened the package and picked up a piece, I had black all over my hand. I thought these would never work as a handle with all of the black but I did not give up.First I soaked them overnight in a solution of Dawn and water. The next morning, I rinsed the pieces off and put them on a paper towel to dry. When I came back the parts had rusted! Oh no now what? I decided to use my fine to medium wire wheel. I guess steel wool would work as well also. The rust was easy to remove and quickly this steel began to shine. The diamond began to sparkle. I found a piece of about 18" long scrap 1/4" metal rod and bent it into two "L's" to help me hold the pieces to the wire wheel. By the way i ALWAYS wear eye protection when using the wire wheel. The bristles on the wheel want to throw off individual pieces of wire headed for your eyes. I then applied a coat of Minwax Finishing Wax. I now have a gorgeous set of handles or pulls that I would be proud to use anywheres. I have used these as handles to hold onto when coming in or out of our patio or garage doors. In both cases we have a narrow step to contend with. I love this look. So much better than the hospital looking chrome handles you see everywhere.. I can visualize so many places to use this industrial look! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for our cellar doors ! *by C***N on 9 October 2017* We bought these door handles from DIY CARTEL and used them on our heavy cellar doors. They came with a little grease (pretty standard for industrial pipe) and we used white vinegar and rag to clean them off. We then sealed them with a RUST-o-Leum clear enamel. They are heavy duty and really fit the look we have going on.
