If you're sitting at the usual distance (arms-length, or a bit further) away from the monitor, only the portion of the screen that is directly in front of you will display color/contrast properly. Anything off-angle will be noticeably washed out -- and at 34" with no curve, there will be a lot of the monitor that is off-angle to your eyes. If you move to a distance of about 5 feet away, things starting looking much better, but that's not so practical for most use-cases.I suspect that either this panel is just poorer than your average VA panel in terms of viewing angle, or VA technology just isn't suitable for 34" non-curved monitors.
