I just spent a 8 days in Mexico diving in deep water at around 72 degrees. Not the kind of temperature I would normally worry about but on a previous trip my head was always could. I bought this purely as a comfort item, not a survival piece. I am very happy with it. I bought my hat size and if felt tight on my face when it arrived, but after I wore it in the water on the first dive, it felt very comfortable. And more importantly, it kept my head very warm. I can't see why I hadn't though of this sooner. I was a little skeptical about a the capabilities of a permeable spandex hood versus a neoprene one. My fears were unfounded. The hood offered great warmth and I'm sure it made my body more capable of dealing with the cold submersion. It clung to my head well and only flared once in a while when I cleared my mask with my face down. I guess the air exited the sides of my mask and entered the hood around my temples. No worries though. The 2 (??) small holes sewn in the top if the hood immediately dispensed the air and the hood was right back against my head. I highly recommend this to anyone that doesn't want a cold head underwater. One note though. I am tall and skinny with a long neck I guess. The tails of the hood weren't long enough to tuck into my wetsuit. But this didn't lessen the effectiveness of the hood at all. Oh, and I was worried about my mask sitting on top of the hood's face opening. Not a problem either.
