Multiple pool guys have told me to switch from this cartridge filter to a sand filter system? Is this wise?** A: If they are telling you to switch to sand they are idiot's. This filter is an amazing filter system. My pool is over 20 years old and the only reason I replaced it was cause someone hit the pipe with the mower and it broke the housing. Yes I replaced it with the same original model that was put in 20 years ago. I'm not sure where you are from but we are in Florida and the pump only runs 6 hours a day. And the filter you can make last a year if you just pull it out and hose it down. You can find replacement filters on Amazon as well. The nice thing about this filter is it's everything that you need to get up and running. All the gaskets, gauges and filter come with this unit. The only thing that you have to provide is a little plumbing and glue. I hope this helps with your question. **Q: Does the Hayward C17502 bolt down to a concrete or wood deck, or does it just sit there relying on its weight, and pipe connections?** A: We have it sitting on a concrete pad with the plumbing holding it in place. No issues.
