Then measure the overall length of the existing bottom bracket axle to find the correct size **Q: How do I know what size I need** A: The best way is to remove old unit and size will normally be printed on the body of the assembly. Another way is to look up the chainset manufacturers recomended width but this will not tell you the bottom bracket shell size (68 or 73 mm) which you would need to measure accurately. Just to complicate things, owners do sometimes install non recomended axle length units to improve gear shifting.
