But how long are the blades? An obvious piece of info -- but not supplied.** A: Now that I have used them for a while I think the one I use a lot is already dull. (2 months) Stainless steel is not the best to sharpen again. The 2 smaller knives are like 3 inches (typical small knife, not as small as paring knives) and the bigger chef's knife is the size of 5 inches, a bit more maybe, not as large as the BIG chef knives. Regular size for a household kitchen, but not sure how soon I will need to purchase a better quality set, that stays sharp. I have only been cutting veg with them. ?! Hope that helps. And my size is refering to blade alone in inches. **Q: Are they okay in the dishwasher?** A: I've washed them in the dishwasher once and they're already not as sharp as before. The 5yr guarantee doesn't cover blade sharpness. I was very happy with how sharp they were before washing them in the dishwasher but now I have to replace them. **Q: Is the serrated knife good at cutting tomatoes - no squishing? Thanx** A: The serrated knife is very sharp and has a sharp point. The way to avoid any knife squishing tomatoes is to insert the point first. I would say this knife is better than any other I have used for cutting soft fruit and veg. **Q: where are the knives made?** A: Who knows... Probably china. Can tell you that I've had this knife set for nearly ten years and all three are used daily - they're all razor sharp and in very good condition. I sharpen them maybe once every couple of months and only hand wash them.
