As I say, in the original setting the dimmer switch worked fine. (The whole system had been working without failure, for at least 10 years!)Hope this helps.Jan Rigby **Q: Dies it work with led lamp?** A: no. only for halogen lamp !!! **Q: Does the bottom section come off?** A: The lower third of the transformer body (from about a 4 o'clock to an 8 o'clock position) shown in the photograph comes away so you can connect the mains supply cable (which goes in on the left) and , as in my case the leads going out to the lamp fittings ( going in on the right) as I was using this to replace a transformer which had failed in a light fitting my wife and I both rather wanted to keep. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Four Stars *by C***W on 20 June 2015* Perfect replacement for a faulty unit.
