Two of them use these scratchers every day. The other two still prefer the arm of the couch but do use a scratcher on and off. The scratchers are in three different rooms. My cats range in size from 12 to 18 pounds. Smaller and larger cats like these scratchers. I vacuum shreds of cardboard often using an inexpensive lightweight cordless vac for convenience. Using both sides of the scratcher till it is torn to shreds three scratcher lasted me about 1 year. Having said that I have to also say I have a house full of scratchers. To protect my overstuffed furniture as much as possible I have slip covers on everything and many many cat scratchers in all shapes and sizes all over the house. They use them all.
