This is only true if one does not adjust the presser foot height for the thickness of material being sewn. There is a nut on the back side that takes a 10mm wrench that easily can be adjusted to allow for sewing thicker materials. It does the same basic function as the large foot height adjustment that is found on 1341 model cylinder bed machine that costs $2600. You get what you pay for. I put a speed reducer on my Tamara fy335a and am very happy with it. I also ordered mine with a U snapped table.
