## Description

Product Description Little Giant's piggyback diaphragm switch converts any manual pump up to 1/2 HP (115V, 15 maximum running Amps) to automatic operation. Includes a 10-foot power cord. Designed to operate in water the compact design works well in limited space. The switch can be used by attaching it to the the discharge pipe to control on-off operation of the pump. The switch is activated by pressure to a diaphragm, caused by rising water around the switch housing. The switch activates the pump when water reaches 8 inches and shuts the pump off when water falls to 2 inches (+/- 0.5 inches). This switch is ideal for use with sump pumps. Note: the power cord contains a breather tube. Be sure power cord is not pinches so that the breather tube doesn't get obstructed. Non-restrictive air flow is required for proper operation. Review: Product does not function exactly as described - My initial review (4-2012): When the switch works, it works great. Problem is, it doesn't function exactly as described. The description states ""on" level range is 6" - 9", "off" level range is 1" - 4". It cuts off at 2", BUT it doesn't cut on until 12" of water accumulate, and that is in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Used as a pump for siphoning rain water off of a pool cover, which is the ONLY reason I bought it, IT NEVER TURNS ON. So in my opinion, IT FAILS MISERABLY. It is easier (and cheaper) to operate it manually! I called their customer service within a week or two of this review (forgot about this review until now 1-2013) and related the problem. They were very polite and kindly sent out a low level switch free of charge. Easily replaced it myself. It now cuts on at a much lower water level (approx 1-2"). It has operated flawlessly since then, cold weather, warm weather, dirty rain water or clean. It is extremely well constructed and sturdy for such a small inexpensive pump. I am very happy with this pump!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works fine - got me thru Hurricane Sandy!

I found that the original switch on my sump pump was not switching off so I needed to make a call to replace the switch or replace the entire unit. My basement flooded during Irene - so I knew I was in danger of that happening again and didn't want to take any chances. I replace the switch, tested it and all has been well - but I did get a generator and spare battery for the backup pump as in a power outage it doesn't matter if the pump is working when you have no power ... and then Sandy hit. Boy was I glad. The switch, and the pump, worked flawlessly all thru the rain and the snowmelt from the following storm. This was much cheaper than a new pump. Very easy to fit (2 screws) and could actually be used to operate dual-pumps if you had that setup to handle very large volumes, or wanted the redundancy. Be aware that it needs a decent head of water before it activates - I needed to pour 15-20 gallons into the sump before it triggered - seems to need 8-10 inches of head. This is actually a good thing - pumps have a longer life if they have a longer cycle time - better to run for 30 seconds an hour than 10 seconds 3 times an hour. Just don't think it's not working if you have a foot of water in your sump and it's still not on - the footer and mounting will take 4-5 inches.
