Review: Turns anyone into a barber! - This simple tool can turn anyone into a barber! The instructions are easy to follow. Some items you should purchase with this for best results: 1) Nekmate Neckline Shaving template, 2) Electric shaver, 3) Hair clips, 4) Jeris Hair Tonic, 5) A spray bottle, 6) A rubber pet hair broom, 7) A good hair cutting scissor and comb. In less than 3 haircuts this tool pays for itself. For a haircut, I usually fill up the spray bottle with water and some Jeris Hair Tonic. I then spray my head with this mixture so that it is damp and easy to comb. I use an old sheet with a safety pin to keep hair off my clothing. I then section the crown of my head with the hair clips. Anything below the clips, I cut at 3/4 inch length. Take care to make textured (point) cuts rather than straight cuts with this tool for smoothness. I then remove the hair clips and cut the crown at 2 inch length. The next part is the hardest, where you have to blend the 2 different lengths where they meet. There is a technique to this using the comb pressed against the scalp with no cutting guides to this right, It will take just a little practice and patience to get it right. The rest is just minor clean-up of hair around the ears and using the Nekmate with an electric shaver to clean-up the neck. Clean-up the hair on the floor with the broom. The result is amazing. Review: It Works! - This is a review for cutting someone else’s hair. I did not use it to cut my own hair. My husband has very thick, salt and pepper hair. It had grown pretty long and really needed to be cut. I have never cut anyone else’s hair with the exception of trimming my own bangs—or when I trimmed bangs and cut long hair straight across the bottom for our daughters when they were small. We looked for clippers first...way too expensive and the shipping was well into next month. I watched lots of videos on YouTube about scissor cutting men’s hair. Nothing looked easy. By chance, I found this on desertcart. I watched the demo a couple of times and showed the demo to my husband. He told me to order it because the cost seemed reasonable and it was advertised to arrive in about 5 days. It arrived 2 days later. I ordered the yellow colored guides because my husband’s hair is too close in color to the gray and black sets that were also offered. I’m really glad I ordered the yellow set because the bright color makes it much easier to see his hair while cutting it. I wanted him to wet his hair first but he didn’t want to. So....I watched the demo a couple more times before I had him sit down on a kitchen chair and began cutting his dry hair. Because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I started with the 2 inch guide. Using everyday, basic (inexpensive) 4 inch scissors, I just went for it. I did a quick trim all over his head then switched to the 1.5 inch guide and concentrated on the back of his head and the sides. I kept using gradually smaller guides on the sides and the back of his head until I got the lengths he liked. I kept the hair at the front and the top of his head longer so he could gel and spike it a little. We were both amazed. His layers blended extremely well. It looked perfect. Really. I don’t think he’ll ever need to go back to a salon or barber shop again. If we use this set of tools twice, it will pay for itself. The set comes in a sturdy, reusable, transparent, zip-slide closure bag with a pamphlet that offers some basic instructions and pictures. Each guide has the size imprinted into the plastic. Kind of hard to see but definitely readable and the numbers will not rub off. The (included) comb is large and easy to hold and use. There is a row of openings (like a ladder) that run down part of the comb. The guides have nubbins with hooks on one end that you fit into the openings. Then you slide the guide up ever so slightly upwards in the holes until you hear a locking “click.” Now you’re ready to start cutting. It’s really that easy. Before you cut, make sure that the bottom of the guide rests upright against the scalp and be sure to only cut the hair that is sticking between the teeth of the comb. You start by “scooping” the hair upwards with the comb (like you’re combing your hair against the flow), then you twist your wrist until you align the guide upright against the scalp. Then cut. Repeat process over and over again all over the areas of the head you want to cut. The guides are for placing the comb at an equal distance from the head before every cut you make. You don’t cut hair through the guide itself, you cut the ends of the hair that stick through the teeth of the comb. Watch the demo on desertcart. It was brief and very helpful. I was very nervous before I started my husband’s haircut. After I actually began cutting and I saw how easy it was to do and how accurately the cutting was actually going, I relaxed a lot and cut away. I will have absolutely no hesitation using these guides in the future. Next time I’ll know what guides work best and I won’t have to experiment. A: Yes, CombPal can also be use with clippers. It is good for both scissors and clipper over comb.

**Q: Is there a razor built in to this?**
A: No, there is no razor. It is a comb and spacer system to help you get the length of the hair correct and even, but you still need to use scissors.

**Q: Is there anyone use this tool to cut his/her long hair (covers ears) by him/herself?**
A: I had long hair and cut it short by myself with this tool. It will help with getting an even cut as long as you want it to be the lengths in the kit.

**Q: Can someone tell me what the comb guards are equivalent  to clipper guards in size wise? For example the 1/2 is 0.6cm so is that a #2 clipper guard?**
A: My clipper guards have all that information. You have to turn them to get the proper lighting on the markings, but the guard has the #, and it will also state how many inches (or fractions of an inch) that particular guard is. I'm sorry I couldn't help more, but I've hidden my clippers from myself, and my CombPal is in the same case. Time to tear the house apart, now, before my next haircut is due!

This simple tool can turn anyone into a barber! The instructions are easy to follow. Some items you should purchase with this for best results: 1) Nekmate Neckline Shaving template, 2) Electric shaver, 3) Hair clips, 4) Jeris Hair Tonic, 5) A spray bottle, 6) A rubber pet hair broom, 7) A good hair cutting scissor and comb. In less than 3 haircuts this tool pays for itself. For a haircut, I usually fill up the spray bottle with water and some Jeris Hair Tonic. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kind of expensive but works.

During Covid not going to barber. This kit, although smaller than expected works OK and has all the sizes needed to cut hair to length. Be sure to watch their video. That part is informative. Wife gave me a pretty descent men's haircut ... not scalped - no holes ... and pretty even when following the instructions. So after two haircuts, will consider the cost a break even. Pretty convenient to use. I offered to give wife haircut ... she won't have any part of that. But for kids and old man... just fine. Does the job, no electricity required, guilds protects fingers from getting cut and really do provide the lengths desired. They illustrate scissor 'point' cutting. But we did straight across schnitz. Came out fine. Again ... watch the short videos. Did haircut outside & cleaned self and area with leaf blower. Nice!
