No pesticides or fertilizers are used in it's growth which can be 35" in a day. These boards are machined very well, sturdy with a smooth finish. Cutting boards need attention if you want them to last, and free from bacteria so I purchased special bamboo soap, oil and bees wax. (wasn't cheap) but well worth it.
