I needed something for bowls, condiment cups etc. These are perfect for items that are too small for a plate cover. I try to wash by hand, but they've been through the dishwasher many times with no ill effect. Check the measurements, so you won't be disappointed by their size. These are great for a one or two person household, especially if you eat at different times. The largest and second largest covers are the only two that are big enough to be very useful; the smallest three are too small to cover even a small bowl with (the second to largest cover BARELY fits over a standard corelle bowl and the recessed handle dips down further than the top, so it sits IN your food, while the next size down sits ON the edge of the bowl rather precariously).
