I'm in my mid 50's and looking to lose 40 lbs of menopausal weight gain and re-strengthen my major muscle groups. I thought this would be a perfect way to do deep squats and have at least a minimal amount of help standing back up. This isn't that at all. Even with the tension as high as it gets, I still need to use all my own strength to get back up again, which is perfect if you're already in great shape. I would have loved this years ago, but I need at least minimal assistance at this point to get the most out of this machine. I can't return it now that it's assembled and the packing materials are destroyed, so I'm stuck with it. I do have other exercise equipment that I will use to strengthen my thigh muscles so I can use this one. If they had made the whole thing a little wider and more stable, and increased the tension to offer more assistance, it would have been perfect.
