They install using 2 large screws on one side of shelf. This is fine if you're installing in a concrete wall or can drill into a stud. However, it's tough to get a sturdy install on a sheetrock wall. After drilling the wall, and installing the inserts and studs, be very careful pushing the shelf onto the studs. If you push too hard, the inserts will push right into the wall - there is no rim or flange on the end to stop them from going into wall.
