The more you put, the longer it takes. It does have a menthol scent but it’s not overpowering in my opinion. It’s typical for this type of product. I didn’t find it sticky.

heads up it says lavender scented but you can’t smell the lavender at all. not sticky but takes a long time to absorb into the skin but that proves it efficacy. very good pain strength lasts hours. good product size. non greasy. its icy hot people its cold then slowly warms up not burns as it relaxes muscles. cheaper than other similar brands works better. menthol is all you smell no lavender smell dissipates after time.
