I think I tried many, many years ago & it was such a pain & the time, energy & ink didn’t make it worth it at that time for me. I used this kit & it was amazingly easy, the ink looks so great, I am so happy with this purchase! I had a used canon cartridge that would not register the ink as I added it & even stopped my whole printer from working because it was registering as empty. I learned this trick from Google to push the stop button down & it would basically ignore what info the cartridge sends & print anyway. The only downside is that I can’t see how much ink is left on my computer or laptop when I’m printing, but it’s easy to see when my ink is getting lighter so I add it when it seems to be fading. It only takes a couple of minutes so it’s not a chore, otherwise, buying a non canon brand cartridge that was already refilled is the best bet to avoid this problem all together.
