My youngest son is 5 years old and in year 1 - he is a summer baby so the youngest child in his year group which hadn't been a problem in nursery or reception years. However after starting year 1 in September he began to really struggle with the work because he described the letters as "wobbly" and "dancing" and said it was too hard - I asked in October for a dyslexia screening but his teacher said he couldn't have dyslexia at his age and was just lazy and could do the work if he tried.
