The wood handle is very nice and I believe if treated with Mineral Oil from time to time, it should last. The coating on the metal was good and even. I did not have any issues with blades falling out as other reviewers have described. I did take the time to ensure everything was snug prior to using. I did not use the blades that it came with so I can not comment on their quality. I have 2 shaves so far with it using Dorco DE blades. First shave was as good as I get from my DE razor. Not baby butt smooth but very fine. The second shave (using a new blade) was a little rougher. I did not take my time like I did on the first shave and did manage to get some razor burn and a small nick. That was totally operator error. Too much pressure and in too big a hurry. Overall, I really like this razor and it allows me to get a precise shave, especially around my mustache and goatee. Very pleased.**UPDATE 04/04/2019** I have been shaving with this shavette regularly and I get an outstanding shave! I have had zero issues with the blades staying put and have not had to re-tighten any of the pivots. I like the tight fit and the balance of the razor. I opened it and balanced it on top of my finger to see if it was balanced. It was good. I like the feel and the blades were ok. You can get better blade but nothing to bad about the one they sent. I saw a complaint that the blades went dull fast. Do you try to use them over and over? These usually are one and done. I will use more the once if I’m just edging myself but other that I’m good. Razor itself has a very natural and manly look to it, with the wood scale and matte black blade, and is well balance and feels good in hand. The blades that come with aren’t top quality, but will still give you a nice shave. My personal reason for buying this was because I was tired of blowing a ton of money in Gillette razors while they rant to the world about how toxic masculinity is, and wanted something that had everything I needed (except cream and aftershave of course). Took a little getting used to, but after two shaves I began to love it.
