I bought them in an L and am a UK size 16 currently. They fit well and the band is comfortable against my waist. They did not move when running and have a useful small pocket on the left side on the waistband. The only negative is that the seam for the colour changes is just below my knee making them slightly uncomfortable when kneeling during floor work, but this can be worked around.
