I also use it to wipe away any polish that got unfinished surfaces. Basically when the polish hardens and leaves a white residue behind in hard to reach areas. This will help get rid of that. As far as pads, it says to use a pad cleaning brush along with warm water. I just spray my pads pretty good and use the end of a hose to massage the pad with the water running, wringing it out, and flushing one or two more times.
