Point the dish using your compass this will get you in the rite direction.You must us a one foot peace of the same type cable between the dish and signal meter. Then connect the cable to the other side going to the sat box. The power comes from the dish signal. So you have the dish, a 1 or 2 foot jumper cable (short piece cable) between the dish and line in on the signal box, the signal box, then connect the cable from the dish box tuner box that is used to change channels to the out side of the signal meter. Now all you have to do is rase the dish until you get a signal. If the signal is to strong back the signal down on the meter for fine tuning it. You don't want the signal to strong. Make it as week as you can well still getting a signal. This will help you pin point the sat. Now once you have it tuned in. lock the dish in place. Remove the short cable and signal box and connect the cable from the sat box and you are done. When I tried to use again it was over the 1 month warranty. **Q: will this work with directtv swm satellite** A: It works with Dish and says it will work with Direct also, it is just a signal strength meter. It has to have the receiver on for power but I did not like that so I took two 9volt batteries and an F type connector and made my own 18volt power supply. This only works with the older systems 18 volts or less.
