Made in 1970, the film is dated, but it’s still fun when you’re not cringing at all the rhapsodized scenarios and watching both Jack Lemmon and his feckless spouse played by Sandy Dennis suffer through one ordeal after another. The Lemmon character, a native Ohioan, is lured to the Big Apple on an interview for what he imagines is a dream job. From their refusal of a meal on the plane and the inevitable delay in landing in NYC, to the hotel room they reserved being given to another boarder because of their late arrival, this screwball comedy will leave you wondering if any of these crazy things might happen to you.
