Not very straight forward as a normal printer would be. I connected it to my Windows 7-64 laptop by USB and it installed fine. I made several tests using Word documents of various density of paragraphs and graphics. It printed quickly and I never found a problem with operation. Please note that this printer uses a small paper roll diameter. The result is, the printer is very compact and tidy. You just have to be a little diligent when buying rolls.
